Music With Tommy Summer Band Coaching

A six-Saturday band coaching program with live recording and a possible local venue performance.

Students rehearse in small bands, learn how to listen and communicate, prepare two songs, record a live take, and work toward a real performance goal.

Band coaching, not just band class.

Six Saturdays

July 11, July 18, July 25, August 1, August 8, and August 15, with placement based on the final group schedule.

Two formats

60-minute and 90-minute bands are available depending on age, experience, goals, and group fit.

Recording + performance goal

The program builds toward a final live recording or dress rehearsal, with a possible local venue performance on Sunday, August 16.

Tommy coaches the band on how to become a band.

Students work on songs together while learning the real-life skills that make a group sound and feel better: counting in, listening, following form, balancing volume, arranging parts, communicating clearly, and recovering from mistakes.

Tuition is simple and all-inclusive.

Pricing is the same regardless of the final number of students in the band. Tuition is built to include rehearsal-space planning, coaching, recording preparation, and performance coordination.

60-minute band

$400 per student

Best for younger groups, first band experience, focused song work, or students who need a shorter rehearsal window.

90-minute band

$600 per student

Best for older students, more advanced groups, existing bands, or students preparing a fuller recording/performance set.

Deposit

One-third deposit due once bands are confirmed.

The remaining balance is due before the program begins. Placement is not final until the group, time, and deposit are confirmed.

Six Saturdays after July 4.

Likely midday Saturday blocks will be assigned after interest forms are reviewed and students are placed into groups.

Current students, new students, friend groups, and existing bands are welcome.

Tommy can make the band

Students can be placed by age, instrument, experience, personality, and musical goals.

Students can request friends

Families can name students they would like to play with, and Tommy will try to build a group that makes musical sense.

Existing groups can sign up

Already have a small band or friend group? Tommy can coach the group as a unit.

Likely local rehearsal space, with a clear attendance policy.

Rehearsals will likely be held at Lagond Music School or another local rehearsal space depending on final group placement, scheduling, and room availability.

Because this is a short group program, there are no refunds or makeups for missed rehearsals. A missed rehearsal does not automatically exclude a student from the recording or performance if they can still perform their part to a reasonable degree. Private catch-up lessons may be booked separately at Tommy's normal rate when needed.

Quick parent questions.

Does my child need band experience?

No. A steady interest in playing, listening, and trying with others matters more than previous band experience.

Can singers join?

Possibly. Singers are best placed when the group, songs, age range, and experience level are a good fit.

Do we need to be current students?

No. Current students, new students, referrals, and existing groups can all fill out the interest form.

Can friends sign up together?

Yes. The form asks whether you want Tommy to make the band or whether you have a band/friend group in mind.

What instruments fit?

Guitar, bass, drums, piano/keyboard, vocals, ukulele, percussion, and other instruments can work depending on the group.

When is the spot confirmed?

After Tommy reviews interest, confirms the group/time, and receives the one-third deposit.

Interested in Summer Band Coaching?

Fill out the interest form with the student's instrument, experience, Saturday availability, friend requests, and whether you want Tommy to place the student or coach an existing group.

Next step

Tommy will review forms, group students carefully, and follow up with possible times, format, and deposit details once bands are ready to confirm.
